No need to rush Archer back to Tests – Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes there is no need to rush Jofra Archer back into Test cricket following his recent injury concerns.

Archer, who has been struggling with a recurring elbow injury, was left out of England’s recent Test series against New Zealand.

“It’s important to prioritize Archer’s long-term fitness and not rush him back into action,” Vaughan said in a recent interview.

The fast bowler has been a key player for England in all formats of the game, but his injury problems have raised concerns about his workload.

“I think it’s important for England to give Archer the time he needs to fully recover and regain his fitness before considering him for Test matches,” Vaughan added.

Archer’s absence has allowed other bowlers to step up and prove their worth in the England side, with players like Mark Wood and Ollie Robinson impressing in his absence.

“The depth in England’s fast bowling department is a positive sign and shows that they have options even without Archer in the team,” Vaughan noted.

While Archer’s talent is undeniable, Vaughan believes it is crucial for England to manage his workload carefully to prevent further injury setbacks.

“I think Archer should focus on his recovery and return to full fitness before thinking about Test cricket again,” Vaughan emphasized.

Archer’s return to the England Test side will undoubtedly be eagerly anticipated, but Vaughan believes patience is key in ensuring his long-term success.
